Ballistic line-of-sight analysis

Ballistic line-of-sight analysis evaluates whether critical assets or individuals can be targeted from distance, using real terrain, structures, and sightlines.

Solstrata models long-range ballistic exposure across complex environments to identify vulnerable viewpoints, quantify risk, and inform mitigation strategies—from hardening infrastructure to protecting people.

We apply terrain-aware, spatial analysis to understand ballistic risk at distance before it becomes consequence.

Our process

This process focuses on protecting fixed, high-consequence assets within a critical infrastructure site. It is designed to reduce long-range ballistic risk to critical infrastructure where damage or loss would have catastrophic operational impact.

Build the digital twin

We create a physically accurate 3D digital twin of the site using high-resolution aerial imagery. This model captures real terrain, structures, and elevation, forming the foundation for all ballistic analysis.

Identify what matters most

Working with the asset owner, we identify and rank critical assets based on criticallity. This ensures the analysis stays focused on protecting what truly matters, not treating all assets equally.

Analyze ballistic exposure

We use our tools to identify all viable sniper vantage points across the surrounding terrain. Each vantage point is evaluated and ranked based on line of sight, distance, and risk to critical assets.

Design and prove mitigation

We develop schematic ballistic mitigation designs to reduce threats. The final report includes multiple mitigation options, sniper views, and visual proof that proposed barriers remove exposure.

Outputs designed for decisions

Each ballistic analysis culminates in a schematic report that visually demonstrates risk reduction across the site. Mitigation options are evaluated side by side, with quantified metrics showing changes in exposure and overall risk.

These results provide a concrete, shareable basis for justifying capital improvements with engineering, finance, and executive stakeholders.

Outputs designed for people protection

Beyond fixed infrastructure, Solstrata applies ballistic line of sight analysis to protect people within complex environments. Using the 3D model, we identify potential VIP locations, evaluate visibility from surrounding terrain and structures, and understand where long range exposure exists in real time.

These insights inform the placement of counter sniper positions, the selection of safer movement paths, and the identification of zones where visibility and risk are minimized. The result is a spatially grounded protection strategy that supports executive security planning with clarity, coordination, and defensible analysis.
